CASA MA1 Radar

The hardware and software of the MA1 radar has been developed by the students, staff, and faculty of CASA (Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere), a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center, headquartered at the University of Massachusetts.

Controls

There are two sets of controls on the previous page:

The navigation buttons overlaid on the map are provided by Googlemaps and allows you to pan north, south, east or west over the map. Use the + button to zoom in, and the - button to zoom out.

The Refresh rate allows you to specify the interval at which an updated radar image will be displayed. Since the MA1 radar produces an image every 30 seconds, you can't specify a value smaller than 30 seconds. A value that is larger than 30 seconds will update the image less frequently, but will require less Internet bandwidth (which might be a consideration if you are using a dialup connection).

The Radar Image allows you to select between reflectivity and wind velocity (check out the "Tell me more about what I am seeing" link on the main MA1 page for more information).

After selecting the Refresh Rate or Radar Image, click on the Set button.
